Project 1 Process Artifacts

During my remediation project, I had to do a lot of research and sifting through old family documents and photos. As long and as difficult as this was, I also began to love the process of finding information and making connections as I continued to work. It became sort of like a puzzle to figure out who belonged where, which relatives were actually relatives, and finding documents and information that supported the names and structure of the tree. I included my process artifacts in order of when I used them in my research. First, I looked at existing family documents to create a foundation for the tree and get some basic information. From there, I then looked at photos to see if my mom or I could find any more links between relatives. I also used these photos in the tree itself, adding photos to those who had them. After compiling this information into some sort of structure, I began importing scanned documents and photos into files sorted by ancestor names. Many of these names weren't in the tree as they were siblings or indirect relatives, but still made for interesting history. From here, I then imported the existing names into the website FamilySearch.org and then organized the final tree.
